Will this work for me if I have rheumatoid arthritis?

Yes! This program addresses symptoms of joint pain, weakness, and stiffness. It also helps you find strategic and unique ways to manage inflammation. These symptoms commonly have an overlap with rheumatoid arthritis so this course can be very effective if you have rheumatoid arthritis instead of osteoarthritis. This course does not discuss specific medications or injections related to rheumatoid arthritis.

I'm not a beginner when it comes to working out, will this still help me?

Going back to the basics with the first 3 workouts can be surprising to you. I honestly find people first think about skipping the beginner movements but then are surprised at how challenging they are and/or how the exercises were able to highlight some of the deficits they have. 

The goal of all of these workouts is to help you find where your imbalances are so you can then address them. Workouts 5-12 focus on including weights and resistance bands, with a progression to some higher impact movements once your joint are ready.

Short answer, yes, you will still get benefit! Some of these movements may even be new to you and feel more challenging than you think :)

I am really not good with technology, could I still benefit from this course?

Yes! I have included easy to follow tutorials that explain how to log-in and access all of the material both with a phone and a desktop, although I do recommend using a laptop or desktop when accessing this for better viewing! I am here for all of your questions and to support you in this adventure.

What if I already have surgery scheduled?

Building strength is vital to prepare for surgery and can contribute to improved outcomes. There have been members who have taken this course following surgery, once cleared to begin exercise on their own.

Surgery doesn't automatically reduce pain. In order to get the most out of the procedure, the principles discussed in this course including controlling inflammation, building strength, and pain relieving strategies are still very relevant and vital.

You can benefit from this course if you are waiting for surgery to start building healthy habits and/or if you have already received surgery.

I have already had a joint replacement, can I still benefit from this course?

Absolutely! Please make sure you are cleared to exercise on your own by your physician and are at the appropriate stage of healing. 

After total knee and hip replacements, movement and controlling inflammation are both extremely important for success of the joint(s).

The principles you learn in this course related to pain relief, preventing stiffness, improving mobility, working on strength/balance, and osteoarthritis education will only benefit you in the future. 

It is also important to do everything you can to prevent osteoarthritis from spreading to other joints in the process.

What exercise equipment will I need for the workouts?

To complete the workouts in the workout calendar you will need:

- a set or two of weights (dumbbells, soup cans, water bottles)
- a sturdy chair you can stand up from
- a set of small, loop resistance bands

Can the exercises be done if I have osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a condition of the bones that results in some weakening and an increased risk for fracture, primarily in the spine, hip, and forearm.

Research shows that resistance training and higher impact exercise can be very beneficial for helping to increase bone strength.

As long as proper form is followed in the videos, these exercises are presented in a safe manner that will not put you at increased risk for fracture.

It is important to use appropriate levels of support during the workouts, especially during the balance exercises to prevent falls. My favorite is to do the balance exercises in the corner of a wall so you have support on both sides. A kitchen counter or sturdy chair will also work. 

Am I able to watch the videos on my TV? Can I access the course using my phone?

All the videos inside this course are private youtube videos, meaning only members inside this course will get access to them. You are able to watch all youtube videos easily on your TV, following this video HERE.

You are also able to add the Arthritis Adventure Blueprint as an app on your iPhone or iPad that you can easily access. 

You can also access the course via a desktop computer, tablet or laptop.

Do I have to do the exercises every day for them to be effective?

No, the workouts do not need to be done every day. In fact, many of our members elect to workout every other day to allow for recovery. 

But, to get the best results, conscious movement must be made a priority every day. Simply adding just 10 minutes of purposeful movement per day is enough when getting started. 

There are many ideas inside of the Arthritis Adventure Blueprint but simply side stepping while waiting for food to cook, heel raises while standing in line at a store, leg kicks when watching tv are all examples of purposeful movement during the day.
